How to Apply for this Job

About the Organization

Student Achievement Partners (SAP) is a national nonprofit that offers unmatched expertise on how standards-aligned math and literacy instruction can unlock student potential. They were founded in 2011 by three lead writers of the Common Core State Standards with the goal of ensuring that all students would have access to the kind of education that would prepare them to meet the challenges of college and career.

Since then, SAP (also historically known as Achieve the Core) has developed products and services to make that vision a reality for all students. Now, they are building on that expertise, recognizing that high-quality, standards-aligned instruction must also be asset-based and joyful. SAP supports both educators and education providers- including professional learning providers, textbook publishers, curriculum designers, and education technology developers- to ensure K-12 literacy and math instruction is rigorous and challenging. Impact SAP’s tools and resources are utilized in nearly all state education agencies, which serve approximately 46 million K-12 public school students.

Many leading education organizations have also adopted its materials and are using them in schools across the country. And last, but certainly not least, SAP’s standards-aligned classroom resources have been downloaded by educators more than 37 million times. As a team of former educators, SAP understands the challenges facing teachers and leaders and the difference the right resources and support can make to deliver the kind of instruction that sparks learning for all students.

That’s why its tools and guidance are grounded in both the latest pedagogical research and educator insights about what works best in the classroom. How SAP Works SAP works in project-based design teams that include internal staff, and external consultants and co-designers. In collaboration, these teams employ an equitable design approach to identify, define, investigate, and address challenges that education stakeholders (systems, educators, and students) are experiencing in the field. SAP’s internal structure is designed to support their employees to thrive in a collaborative, remote environment that centers equitable design practices.

All staff work together to support each member of the team and elevate their talents, skills, and lived experiences. SAP does this so that everyone’s skill sets, voices, and personal and professional journeys contribute to the student’s experience, improved understanding of grade-level content and joyful, relevant learning. SAP values and provides growth opportunities to individuals who demonstrate a commitment to learning about equitable literacy and mathematics instruction, and its impact on the broader education ecosystem.

About Philanthropy at SAP

SAP has primarily been funded through a small and dedicated group of funders which includes the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies and the Gates Foundation. Its annual philanthropic revenues over the past 5 years have ranged between $5.5–$8M with its projected philanthropic revenue in 2024 to be approximately $6M. Increasing and diversifying its philanthropic revenue is an important strategic priority for SAP as it looks to further the impact and sustainability of the organization.

By 2027 SAP plans to strategically grow overall revenues from $9M to over $15M with contributed revenue making up the majority. Philanthropic revenue targets will likely range from $9–$11M/year over the next three years; these targets are expected to be accomplished by increasing the number and diversity of funders, as well as engaging in other strategic avenues including the potential of an individual giving program.
