Chief Development Officer

United Women’s Empowerment
Remote

Anticipated Start Date: TBD

Description

WittKieffer is proud to partner with United Women's Empowerment (United WE) to conduct the national search for its Chief Development Officer (CDO).

The CDO will be responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with prospective donors, developing and executing fundraising strategies, overseeing fundraising projects, and preparing materials that communicate the mission and impact to donors. The role requires a proactive, self-driven individual who can build relationships with diverse stakeholders and manage the overall process of building a robust fundraising program. United WE's Appointments Project®, initiated in 2014, empowers women in local civic leadership by convening, connecting, and equipping women already in service while educating and motivating prospective female leaders.

This project includes educational workshops, peer-based journey cohorts, and building a national network of women in appointed positions. Additionally, the United WE Institute advances women's economic and civic leadership through evidence-based policy initiatives, specializing in research, town halls, policy advisement, and educational workshops, with a focus on impactful change for women in disadvantaged and minority communities.

This remote position requires semi-regular travel to Kansas City, Missouri, and to meet with donors nationally, with an estimated starting salary range of $175,000 plus benefits.

Responsibilities

The CDO will lead United WE’s fundraising efforts, partnering closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to build a robust, national philanthropic program. The CDO will be instrumental in stewarding current donors and identifying and soliciting new national donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of development and fundraising experience within a nonprofit organization, including experience with foundations, corporations, and individual philanthropists.
