Description

The Development Manager is responsible for supporting the organization's fundraising efforts, with a focus on managing communication with high net wealth donors, overseeing donor lists and data in Bloomerang (our fundraising data management system), researching donors, and assisting with event planning and execution.

This individual will play a critical role in ensuring a positive donor experience, maintaining up-to-date and accurate donor records, and helping to execute various fundraising events. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in a high performing development shop, a strong understanding of donor relations, the ability to manage up seamlessly and ensure flawless execution and a proven ability to manage complex data systems.

Responsibilities

Donor Relations and Stewardship

  • Flawlessly organize prework (including research) and followup needed for meetings with prospects and donors

  • Assist in creating tailored communications and stewardship strategies for top donors

  • Coordinate one-on-one meetings, donor cultivation events, and other outreach efforts

  • Help prepare personalized acknowledgment letters and recognition materials for donors

Data Management (Bloomerang)

  • Manage and update donor records in Bloomerang, ensuring accurate and timely entry of all donation data

  • Generate reports to track progress against fundraising goals, analyze giving trends, and identify opportunities for donor engagement

  • Assist in the segmentation of donor lists for appeals, campaigns, and targeted communications

  • Ensure that procedures and data standards are clear, understood by all staff and are consistently adhered to

  • Manage and oversee all gift processing functions and procedures, including timely entry of donations, review of gift documentation and issuance of acknowledgement letters. Track total fundraising performance, number of gifts, overall fundraising status, and year-to-date fundraising performance.

  • Manage all the processes required for gift acknowledgement and receipting according to IRS rule 1771 and IRS regulations; this includes ensuring that gift recording and acknowledgement systems are in place for accurate and timely execution

  • Liaise with finance function to ensure financial reconciliation for regular reporting and the annual audit.

Event Planning and Coordination

  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, including donor and cultivation events

  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, invitations, and guest list management and finalizing a program/donor book

  • Work closely with external vendors and event staff to ensure smooth execution of events

Fundraising Campaign Support

  • Assist with the implementation of annual giving, major gifts, and special campaign strategies.

  • Support fundraising team in the development and execution of appeals, campaigns, and special projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience including strong professional writing skills

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit development or a related role

  • High degree of personal organization skill and meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Strong skill with managing up to colleagues and an entrepreneurial spirit - can “fill in the gaps” when a problem is identified and proactively solve problems and take on ownership of ambiguous challenges

  • Strong familiarity with donor management systems, particularly Bloomerang, and data-driven fundraising strategies

  • Experience in event planning and coordination, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • A passion for the mission of the organization and a commitment to its values

  • Authorized to work in the US for any employer

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

$90-95,000 depending on years of experience

Benefits: 15 days PTO + all federal holidays, health insurance with $0 out of pocket cost for employee from paycheck, $1000 annual professional development stipend
