Fundraising Consultant (Contractor)

Purpose Possible’s fundraising consultants play an important role in the firm. Consultants are often the clients' primary point of contact. As the primary point of contact, client satisfaction relies heavily on their experience and outcomes with consultants. Consultants must understand their role in the client experience and the value they can bring to an organization through high-quality work, relations, and responsiveness.

Responsibilities

Participating as a key member of the consultant team, with responsibility for key fundraising activities, including but not limited to:

  • Grant Writing: Craft compelling grant proposals that secure funding from foundations and government agencies.

  • Individual Giving: Cultivate relationships with major donors, including prospect research, solicitation strategies, and stewardship.

  • Corporate Engagement: Provide engagement strategy and prospecting for corporate relationships, create corporate presentations, and work with the Board of Directors to cultivate new funding relationships based on their networks

  • Strategic Planning: Ability to assess current fundraising efforts, develop data-driven strategies, and create a sustainable fundraising plan.

  • Campaign Management: Manage and execute successful fundraising campaigns, including annual giving, capital campaigns, and special events.

  • Donor Database Management: Utilize donor management software (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce) to track donor data, analyze trends, and segment audiences.

  • Ensuring assigned clients have a work plan, an understanding of their roles, and clear deadlines.

  • Serves as the project manager, identifying key deliverables in the annual work plan and completing and delegating tasks to team members as appropriate.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage donors, staff, and board members. Ability to manage up to consultants, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Relationship Building: Ability to build trust and rapport with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Empathetic and Compassionate: Ability to empathize with clients, their work, and challenges and meet them compassionately.

  • Time Management and Organization: Proven ability to self-motivate and manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines effectively.

  • Adaptability and Problem-solving: Skills to adjust strategies, overcome challenges, and identify new fundraising opportunities.

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Ability to analyze fundraising data, ideas and information and use insights to inform decision-making and create actionable next steps

  • Growth Mindset: You should possess a growth mindset and appreciate ongoing feedback. You should also exhibit a desire and commitment to professional growth within Purpose Possible.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising or a related field.

  • Proven success in helping small to mid-sized nonprofits achieve fundraising goals and secure funding through various channels (grants, individual giving, events).

  • Strong understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities faced by small and mid-sized nonprofits.

  • Experience working with a variety of nonprofit organizations across different causes.

  • Experience with project management including creating and executing deadline-driven work plans.

Optional but Beneficial

  • Previous consulting experience, especially with managing more than one client

  • Board development experience.

  • Familiarity and alignment with Community Centric Fundraising Principles.

  • Experience with online fundraising platforms and digital marketing.

  • Ability to communicate in languages other than English.

  • Knowledge of specific fundraising regulations and compliance.

  • Experience working collaboratively with a fully remote team; experience working through Slack and Google Suite.

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

The hourly range for this contractor position is $50 - $60 an hour.
