The Assistant Director of Annual Giving is responsible for leading Class Ambassadors and Reunion volunteers, student/young alumni philanthropy, direct solicitation, and portfolio management, and contributing to the overall operational strategy of The Fund for Davidson. This position manages the 5th,10th and 15th Reunion class chairs and committees, and manages 150 donor prospects and volunteers through the stages of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

This position also manages the Senior Class Gift Chairs. Specific responsibilities include: meeting The Fund for Davidson’s dollar and participation goals primarily through managing volunteers, student philanthropy initiatives, and donor cultivation and solicitation events. This person is responsible for completing 30-50 meaningful interactions with assigned prospects and collaborates closely with the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement. This position reports to the Associate Director of Annual Giving.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Class Volunteer Management (40%): Identify, recruit, train and manage Fund for Davidson volunteers from the Millennial and Gen-Z cohorts including Class Ambassadors, Reunion Gift Chairs, and Reunion Committees, for the purpose of creating class affinity, engagement, and reaching class participation and dollar goals. Plan, prepare for, hold and follow-up from volunteer calls and meetings. Devise and execute fundraising strategies for each class and regularly provide updated fundraising information statistics to volunteers through the year.

  • Millennial/Generation-Z Engagement and Philanthropy (30%): In partnership with the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement, develop and execute strategy to build the student to donor pipeline. Work with young alumni leadership volunteers to increase the number of households who give at the leadership level. This position also manages our Senior Class Gift Chairs and executes programming geared towards student philanthropy.

  • Direct Solicitation (20%): Conduct 30-50 individual meetings with donors annually (with emphasis on leadership donors) for cultivation, solicitation, and/or stewardship purposes. Maintain a precise record of donor contacts through the prospect management system and prepare timely reports.

  • June Student Calling (10%): Manage end of fiscal year student calling program with the goal of increasing alumni participation. Additional Information: Night and weekend work required when related to special events/initiatives throughout the year. This position requires up to 20% travel.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education, fundraising, alumni and/or constituent relations, volunteer management, public relations, nonprofit administration and/or related fields.

  • Minimum 1 year of development or related experience.

  • High degree of personal initiative.

  • Flexibility and adaptability, especially in working collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Strong desire and ability to work effectively with persons from diverse generational, religious, racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability and cultural backgrounds.

  • Training on the division's software systems will be provided.

Flexible Work Location

Davidson College Relations currently has a flexible work location program in line with the College’s telecommuting policy. This position is eligible for partial flexibility in work location, during non-event days, as determined with the position’s manager and reviewed regularly through our performance management processes.

Candidates should expect to maintain a residence within commuting distance of the Charlotte metro area. An initial campus orientation period (of several weeks to months) worked from the office may be required. This policy is reviewed periodically. Salary Range and Employee Benefits

Compensation and Benefits

$48,000 - $55,000

College Relations is committed to salary transparency in the hiring process. Our salaries are benchmarked to national liberal arts colleges and regional colleges and universities. The position hiring manager is happy to discuss the salary range for this position throughout the interview process. Davidson College also offers numerous other benefits as an employer, including:
