MaineHealth is seeking an engaging and strategic executive to serve as its next Vice President/Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead and shape a newly unified philanthropy organization. Reporting directly to Andrew Mueller, M.D., MaineHealth's President and CEO, the CDO will be an instrumental leader, establishing the vision for a system-wide fundraising organization and continuing to elevate relationships with donors and strategic partners within MaineHealth's internal and external networks.

Responsibilities

The CDO will establish the vision, strategy, and organizational structure necessary to capitalize on the new system-wide philanthropy structure while continuing to advance the strong donor base, reputation, and stewardship at MaineHealth.

This visionary executive will drive revenue growth and mission impact through annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate development, and development of new and emerging fundraising markets. The CDO will collaborate closely with colleagues on the MaineHealth leadership team and the Board to set organizational fundraising priorities.

Additionally, the CDO will be responsible for managing a total team of over 50 individuals actively engaging with the community and MaineHealth stakeholders to strengthen relationships with regional hospitals, thereby increasing awareness and visibility of MaineHealth throughout Maine and beyond.

Requirements

  • This position calls for an experienced, confident visionary, who thrives in a complex matrix and collaborative environment;

  • has a track record of success in leading a team in authentic major gift relationship building, preferably in healthcare; understands and embraces sustainable fundraising and executing comprehensive campaigns;

  • has deep experience in understanding, building, and partnering with donors including securing transformational gifts;

  • and has a passion for excellence in healthcare and the overall health and wellness of people in the local communities they serve.

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

$200k - 300k
