Description

The Sponsorship & Corporate Giving Officer will work collaboratively to grow and manage a robust corporate sponsorship program to support the Wisconsin Historical Society. The Development & Corporate Giving Officer manages a portfolio of sponsors and corporate relationships with the goal of building new relationships and meeting the funding needs for the Society. This includes envisioning and implementing short-term and long-term strategic growth plans to secure new sponsorships and corporate support.

This is an ideal opportunity for a professional who enjoys collaboration, taking initiative, and applying creativity and strategic vision to build new partnerships. This role will work collaboratively with Society and Foundation colleagues to develop compelling sponsorship packages and corporate support opportunities. This position is an active member of the Fundraising Team with frequent collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Team.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and strategic planning to grow sponsorship program (50%)

  • Plan and execute a growth strategy to expand corporate sponsorships.

  • Collaborate closely with the Society’s Director & CEO and Assistant Deputy Director & Chief Program Officer to seek introductions with corporate leaders and develop relationships and compelling sponsorship packages for major programs and events.

  • Collaborate with board members and volunteer leaders to expand networking opportunities and seek new corporate connections.

  • Lead the Foundation's corporate sponsorship program by coordinating with cross-functional teams such as marketing and communications, programs, education, museums and historic sites, and administrative services to develop and deliver sponsorship packages.

  • Develop and fulfill attractive recognition and benefit plans that align partner priorities with Society needs and opportunities.

  • Advise on growth opportunities for the Foundation’s Business Partners membership program.

Build new corporate relationships (40%)

  • Build relationships within the Wisconsin business community to identify and cultivate new corporate partners through outreach, networking, and other development strategies.

  • Articulate and present the benefits of partnering with the Wisconsin Historical Society to corporate prospects, emphasizing brand alignment, marketing and reach metrics, and other recognition benefits.

  • Give presentations to business audiences and community groups as needed.

  • Attend networking events and meetings.

Fulfillment of corporate sponsorship benefits (10%)

  • Steward relationships with existing sponsors and ensure fulfillment of sponsor recognition and benefits, working in collaboration with Fundraising Team and Marketing & Communications Team members.

  • Share program and event progress reports with partners that articulate the impact of their support.

  • Provide leadership for renewal and upgrade strategies.

Requirements

The Wisconsin Historical Foundation is seeking a candidate with 3+ years of experience in a marketing, business development, or out-the-door fundraising role, who is looking to lead a growing sponsorship program. You are energetic and thrive on meeting people, building new relationships and exploring possibilities to create new partnerships. Be able to present effectively to internal and external constituencies.

  • A high degree of professionalism, impeccable integrity and sincere awareness of others’ needs and interests. Meticulous and consistent in matters of accuracy, presentation and attention to detail.

  • Calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment with the ability to appreciate a sense of fun and enjoyment in the workplace. Ability to adapt to constantly changing environments.

  • Proficient use of personal computers and routine software applications.

Other Helpful Experience

  • Experience developing co-branded sponsorship opportunities, as the sponsoring organization or sponsored organization

  • Demonstrated success in the closure of sponsorships or accomplishment of comparable business development or marketing goals/targets.

  • Experience working with volunteer leadership

  • Experience with fundraising campaigns

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

This is a full-time exempt position eligible for the Wisconsin Historical Foundation’s benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance; competitive retirement plan including employer match and generous PTO and paid holiday policy.

This position offers a starting salary of $65,000-80,000 dependent upon qualifications and experience and is eligible for the Wisconsin Historical Foundation’s annual incentive compensation plan (a board-approved annual bonus program based on team performance and metrics).
