Description
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) seeks to hire a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to join the Development & Events Department.
The individual will play a key role in driving revenue from individual supporters, building an enhanced annual giving program currently raising $4 million annually, and overseeing its operations, and will maintain a portfolio of their own annual giving prospects to qualify, cultivate, and solicit.
This is a new position that was created as part of the organization’s five-year strategic plan and will report to the Chief Philanthropy Officer while the plan is being implemented. The Director will collaborate closely with colleagues in Digital Fundraising and Communications for integrated campaigns, and Database leadership to develop segmentation and reporting practices to optimize ROI.
Responsibilities
Building and Managing
BCRF’s Annual Giving Program Create and manage a comprehensive plan and fundraising appeal schedule for annual giving in offline channels.
Set strategy and lead content production for appeals in partnership with vendors and colleagues in Digital Fundraising and Communications.
Oversee all day-to-day elements of the BCRF annual giving program for mid-level donors. Develop and maintain the BCRF annual giving budget.
Oversee the creation of solicitation materials and personalization of acknowledgement letters. Set dollar, participation, and qualitative goals for the annual giving program.
Track the progress of appeals to determine effectiveness, ROI, and work with the Database team to conduct regular segmentation and data analyses to inform new strategies for activating donors.
Manage vendors and a growing team of development professionals.
Portfolio Creation and Management
Responsible for identifying, qualifying, soliciting, and stewarding annual giving prospects (gifts of $24,999 and below).
Work with the Database team and other members of Development & Events to identify and qualify new prospects for annual giving, lift up potential planned giving prospects, and upgrade annual giving donors to major giving portfolios.
Ensure all transactions related to annual giving have been correctly entered and are accurately tracked and managed in the database.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will be positive, disciplined, articulate, detail-oriented, proactive, a team player and very professional, while personable. Successful candidates will also have:
Experience building and managing a nonprofit’s annual giving program
Ability to think strategically and perform across the development spectrum, including prospect identification, solicitations, and donor stewardship
Experience soliciting gifts up to $25,000.
Demonstrated knowledge of current industry trends in annual giving
Experience with data analytics, specifically analyzing giving performance to identify opportunities for improved engagement and support
Ability to serve as a representative of the organization professionally when communicating with donors, volunteer leadership, vendors, and the Foundation’s constituency
Capacity to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects, and set priorities for a challenging workload
Superb verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage and inspire varying committees, donors, and stakeholders
Excellent project management skills with the ability to execute projects from start to finish while prioritizing multiple tasks
Ability to compellingly communicate stories, data, and scientific findings to donors
Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion
High degree of initiative and resourcefulness, with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
Meticulous attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills
Willingness to assist and collaborate with all BCRF teammates
Flexibility and adaptability
Positive can-do attitude with a passion for fundraising and the mission and work of BCRF
Experience & Education
Bachelor’s Degree required Minimum of ten years of work experience in program management of fundraising and marketing expertise.
Portfolio management experience preferred. Track record of working across donor communication channels with diverse audiences.
Professional experience that demonstrates an ability to build consensus within and among teams to advance fundraising objectives and campaigns
Proficiency with standard fundraising data, metrics, and reporting processes
Highly skilled in using Microsoft Office to develop presentations and communicate fundraising strategies and results (emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of and experience with BCRF’s current data platforms:
Raiser’s Edge NXT and Classy
Mastery of business rules related to 501(c)3 tax status
Salary Range and Employee Benefits
$120,000-130,000
