Development Operations Associate
Development Department Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Hybrid, New York City
Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000

The Development Operations Associate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our development systems, maintain accurate donor records, manage gift processing, and assist in the implementation of efficient process strategies. The ideal candidate is looking to start up their finance, accounts receivable, and/or development career within the non-profit space.

Responsibilities

Gift Processing & Acknowledgement

  • Work collaboratively and in partnership with the Finance Department on timely reconciliation of all gifts to RFK Human Rights from all sources in order to maintain accurate financial records;

  • Oversee donor gift processing (including checks, ACHs, wires, stock gifts) by checking in on on Paypal, Stripe, Venmo, Bill.com, Apple Pay, and other donation processing platforms to ensure donations from events, institutions, and individuals are recorded and processed in a timely manner;

  • Process donations, pledges, and recurring gifts efficiently and accurately;

  • Draft and distribute timely acknowledgment letters and receipts to donors and partners in order to ensure retention through structured stewardship plans;

  • Collaborate with the Development, Business & Human Rights team, Chief Governance Officer, and events management vendor to follow up with all outstanding event pledges and ensure gifts are received and processed;

  • Collaborate with Development, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure compliance with all gift processing policies and governing regulations regarding gift acceptance, the processing and receipt of charitable gifts, and ensure that gift procedures and policies are up to date and meet industry best practices;

Database Management

  • Maintain and manage data entry of donor records in our CRM system, Salesforce.

  • Collaborate with our Salesforce Administrator to facilitate data entry and maintenance of the Salesforce -Database on behalf of the Development department including updating donor information;

  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and proper documentation of donor interactions and contributions.

  • Generate reports and dashboards to monitor fundraising performance and trends in order to support program activities, and track progress against fundraising targets.

Donor Stewardship and Engagement

  • Recommend changes in donor engagement/stewardship strategy based on trends and analytics;

  • Use MOVES management strategies to enhance the experience of existing donors, including personalized communications, impact reports, and creative recognition opportunities.

  • Strategize to increase revenue from identified growth areas, including new audiences—for example, legacy giving, events, and other special projects; -Develop systems for project management and coordination, including processes related to development operations and donor engagement;

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of RFK Human Rights’ programmatic works and fundraising priorities;

  • Provide logistical support for our annual Ripple of Hope gala, auction, and other fundraising/special events.


Requirements

  • At least two years of full-time experience in database management, nonprofit development, development operations or relevant experience including donor engagement, gift processing, or accounts receivable;

  • Experience utilizing fundraising database/CRM systems such as Salesforce;

  • Demonstrated experience processing invoices, donor gifts, and/or payments;

  • Ability to crunch numbers and utilize Microsoft Office & Google Suite systems such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets;

  • Project management, you’re able to oversee and execute a process from start to finish;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team - you’re able to gather and engage with various groups of people to achieve a task/goal

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;

  • Attention to detail, you’re able to scope out errors and willing to fix mistakes;

  • Time management, you have the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once;

  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information;

  • Innovative thinking, a willingness to voice opinions, and a strong work ethic are essential;

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

$60,000-$70,000
