Black History Month 2023 with the WOC Community
Happy Black History Month, WOC Community!
As we continue to celebrate this important month, I also hope that you have been moved to action that creates lasting change in our communities. Over the past few weeks, WOC has had the opportunity to share inspirational quotes from African American female leaders and philanthropists as motivation and encouragement for our members. Very special thanks to our members: Doria Josma, Shola Akintobi and V. Renee Cutting for taking the time to share their stories as a part of our Black History Month video series.
There’s so much happening at WOC! Stay tuned for information on WOC’s the Word for March 15th. And if you are considering a career change in 2023, be sure to visit the WOC Career Center and sign up for Career Match by WOC™. I also hope that you thoroughly enjoy the poignant WOC Writes article by Shauwea Hamilton on her lived experience as a Black woman leader.
Congratulations to our February Wonderful Woman of WOC, Adjoa Nyarko! We also wish to congratulate Joie Johnson-Walker on her new position as Director of Development at the Writing Revolution. Special thanks to this month’s sponsor, Donorly! Donorly continues to lead the charge in so many areas of the nonprofit sector, and we’re thrilled to have their support of our Black History Month edition.
Please continue to let us know about your celebrations and milestones, so we can include them in our communications. As we continue to recognize and celebrate Black History Month, may we remember that it’s not only about February, but thinking inclusively and thoughtfully, the entire year through.
Onward, Upward, Forward,
Yolanda
