The Vice President, Development serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting Brotherhood Crusade. In partnership with the President and CEO, this position is responsible for fundraising and development activities. The incumbent will help forge new relationships to build Brotherhood Crusade’s visibility, impact, and financial resources.

The Vice President, Development also will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support and has primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to grow an $12 million budget through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support. The incumbent will expand and diversify Brotherhood Crusade’s donor base/pipeline and work closely with executive team members to secure funding for new initiatives.

Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Support and partner with the President and CEO on all major fundraising initiatives. Collaborate with the Executive Vice President (EVP) to develop and implement Brotherhood Crusade’s financial strategy and Workplace Giving Programs.

Actively work with the President and CEO and senior staff to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants, etc. Lead, guide, and direct the development and execution of all proposals; write and archive all proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach. Oversee research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position Brotherhood Crusade ahead of major funding changes or trends.

Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to senior leaders. Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors. Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program. Identify, develop, and mentor any development team. Other duties and special projects as assigned and needed by organization. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • 10-plus years of development experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources).

  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time.

  • Ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships. Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.

  • 5-10 years of managerial, supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree from a four-year university required. Master's degree preferred.

Other Qualifications

  • Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.

  • Required to travel several times per month (25% to 50% of the time). Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities.

  • Sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Punctual and dependable attendance. Understands Los Angeles Brotherhood Crusade’s basic philosophy and participates fully in carrying out its mission.

Must possess a valid California Driver's License. Due to our in-person and in office work with LAUSD, City of LA, County of LA and other work partners that require our team to be vaccinated, we require that all potential candidates must be COVID-19 vaccinated with either, Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson.

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

$110,000-$135,000
