Description

World Food Program USA seeks a Stewardship and Donor Relations, Sr. Associate to work with major donors giving (or with the capacity to give) $10,000+ annually, and to help support the Major Donor program on the Philanthropy team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Philanthropy (Major Donors), the Sr. Associate of Stewardship and Donor Relations role will help develop and execute strategies to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, while also helping to strengthen and grow the entire Major Donor team at World Food Program USA.

Responsibilities

Stewardship and Donor Relations

  • Steward a portfolio of approximately 350-500 major donors through efforts tailored to each donor’s known preferences and observed donation patterns, which may include:

    • Send proposals and requests for support

    • Mail/email 3-4 impact reports/year

    • Mail and/or email cultivation and stewardship updates, including monthly newsletters and additional communications around emergencies, special announcements, webinars/events, etc.

  • Coordinate with Development Support team to ensure timely and accurate acknowledgements are sent to all donors in the Stewardship portfolio Send personal thank you notes and make regular thank you calls

Work with Development

  • Support to help field inquiries from prospective major donors

Qualifying New Major Donors

  • Execute a multi-step qualification process for new major donors to World Food Program USA, identifying and updating established tiers within Salesforce

  • Determine and coordinate a hand off plan for qualified donors with relationship managers, as appropriate

  • Work closely with Prospect and Donor Research team

Reporting and Gift Tracking

  • Ensure all Major Gifts are attributed to the correct designations and Campaigns in Salesforce

  • Manage pipeline and opportunities for the Stewardship portfolio in Salesforce Track all outreach and engagement efforts in Salesforce, keeping accurate communication logs and maintaining a high level of detail and confidentiality, where appropriate

  • Submit annual fundraising/revenue projections for portfolio

Support and Collaboration

  • Work across departments to request materials and supplies for stewardship and cultivation – including thank you cards, envelopes, notepads, stamps, printing content pieces, appeal letters etc.

  • Work with Deputy Director, Planned Giving to identify prospective Planned Giving prospects, coordinate as needed on gifts from IRA/QCDs, stock, and other gifts of complex assets

  • Support list creation, dashboard maintenance and reporting in Salesforce for Major Donor program

  • Participate in calls and briefings with country offices and regional bureaus

  • Participate in the upkeep of the organizational wide shared project management tool, Monday.com to ensure effective collaboration

  • Provide logistical support for cultivation and fundraising events (for which some domestic travel may be required)

Additional Duties

  • Become knowledgeable about and stay up to date on World Food Program USA and the U.N. World Food Programme’s work and priorities – but not expected to become a content expert Undertake special projects and responsibilities, as needed

Requirements

  • Passion for our shared vision of creating a world with zero hunger

  • Experience in a development support or fundraising role (2-4 years preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and meet deadlines

  • Strong decision-making skills, with demonstrated ability to act quickly and effectively while juggling multiple projects, responsibilities, and tasks

  • Engaging presence and comfortable connecting with donors and colleagues over the phone, on video calls, and in person

  • An entrepreneurial and proactive mindset with the ability to work under remote supervision

  • Ability and willingness to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment and continually growing program

  • Have team player mentality but also be able to manage a portfolio of donors independently

  • Ability to manage confidential information and observe donor privacy protocols

  • Experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Salesforce preferred

  • Must have current valid driver’s license

Salary Range and Employee Benefits

$60,000- $65,000
