Description
The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for the contributed revenue generation at inewsource. This position helps the organization achieve an ambitious organizational and growth plan by leading and managing a strategic, donor-centered fundraising program with clear targets and reporting. The Director of Philanthropy is experienced with the prospecting process and successful acquisition of major gifts and carries a portfolio of local major and principal gift prospects.
This role manages the success of a philanthropy team who are responsible for the largest part of a budget of at least $3 million. Supporters include individuals and foundations, with occasional corporations and other institutional giving. The team works across the organization, thriving in a collaborative company culture, in finding and participating in creative ways to generate revenue via various income streams, including contributions, memberships, marketing, events, sponsorships, speaking opportunities, etc.
The role requires advanced communication and networking skills with a strong track record of developing lasting relationships with foundations, corporations, community members, and individual donors. This position is a key member of the inewsource senior leadership team and a highly valued thought partner to the CEO, Executive Director and the Board. They embrace San Diego’s diversity by listening to and engaging with a wide variety of communities throughout the county to build support for the public service work of inewsource.
