Looking for your next professional opportunity can be daunting in the best of times. It's even more intimidating in the midst of a health pandemic, economic downturn and political uncertainty. If your job search threatens to overwhelm you, never fear! WOC has the solution! And if you're a recruiter or potential employee who is doing your best to diversify your team by hiring a woman of color, we want to help you to achieve recruitment success.

For Job Seekers:

This program will offer participants up-to-the-minute information on the job nonprofit job market. Ranging from topics such as who's hiring, how to stand out in a candidate pool, acing the virtual interview and networking in the age of social distancing, participants will come away with confidence and practical tips for taking the next professional step.

For Potential Employers:

For potential employers, are you trying your best to find diverse talent, but haven't had much success? Is your job description compelling? Is your environment inclusive? Are you aligned with pay equity standards? What does it take to make your job openings attractive to women of color? We'll tackle these issues for you as well.

Zena Lum, Executive Director at Girls' and Boston Latin Academy Association

In addition to Zena’s role at Lindauer as Senior Advisor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Zena is excited to start as the first Executive Director of the Girls' and Boston Latin Academy Association. Zena will be leading the fundraising efforts of this private 501(c)3 raising support for Boston Latin Academy, one of the exam schools in the Boston Public Schools system that was the first college preparatory schools for girls in the country. Zena is also a proud parent of a Latin Academy student, Class of 2023.

This is one of BPS' most diverse high schools and aligns well with Zena’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. As Zena raise funds to support the young, diverse leaders of tomorrow, Zena will be continuing her work with Lindauer to build on its longstanding position as the nation’s #1 firm for advancement search, leveraging its growth to influence hiring, retention, and career advancement for underrepresented professionals of diverse backgrounds and abilities across broader segments of administrative and leadership roles.

With more than 25 years dedicated to mission-driven organizations, Zena has directly raised tens of millions of dollars for leading organizations in Boston such as WGBH, Jumpstart for Young Children, New England Aquarium, and Boston Public Schools; Zena looks forward to continuing her efforts on behalf of Latin Academy. Since joining Lindauer more than 9 years ago, Zena has placed development leaders across the country and across the sector that collectively have raised hundreds of millions more to advance education, the arts, health care, and social and environmental justice. While mission is her “North Star,” successful navigation is predicated on her strengths in building genuine relationships and the ability to see connections and commonalities that lead to high-impact matchmaking in fundraising, recruiting, and talent management.

Victoria Silverman, Managing Founder and CEO of Cook Silverman Search

Victoria is the Managing Founder and CEO of Cook Silverman Search. Throughout her career, Victoria has worked in senior fundraising, advancement and management positions in higher education, arts, biotech, and environment sectors at Stanford University, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of California, the American Film Institute, the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Buck Institute for Age Research, among others. She has worked with heads of state, CEOs of major corporations, scientists, Hollywood celebrities, and leaders of industry.

Victoria is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and attended St. Louis University School of Law. She has been a "heavy hitter" speaker for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and has served on fundraising advisory committees for several nonprofit organizations. Victoria has served as an AIRI conference presenter, a YMCA volunteer, and a former member of the Reed Union School District advisory council.

Victoria is currently President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Golden Gate Chapter and a member of the Silicon Valley, Greater Los Angeles, Wine Country and Oregon & S.W. Washington chapters. She is a member of Development Executives Roundtable, and Northern California Planned Giving Council and the Network for Nonprofit Search Consultants.

Victoria is an avid hiker and enjoys the beautiful Marin Hills. She is a classically trained musician, former dancer and proud mother of two amazing young women.
